Six buds none the weiser

On saturday, I saw myself heading to the community club for a 4 hours long voluntary work and then, a 2 hour math lesson with my two girls and finally letting my hair down at Budweiser event that Issac Ritz so generously invited me with plus three. (Okay, Lim was supposed to come with her plus one but she bailed at the eleventh hour so I took it as I can plus three.)

I decided that I got enough footage for #sgYouthsCare (@tjyouths) to last like a decade, I decided to leave the community club 2 hours earlier to nap. When I woke up, it was pouring and I was slightly behind time. Knowing that Oldman will be home, I decided to ring him up and ask for a ride to work while crossing my fingers that he's not napping. I could have just brave the rain and flag for a cab but because there were thunder, I wanted him by my side.

Went home, got into the showers and then arrange to meet Oldman and his brother at 7.30pm for..

Yeah... Budweiser Made for Music 2013 Singing Competition. Due to work, I missed out on alot of singing but beer is always better. Budweiser is so smooth that its almost like I was drinking water. You know that bitter taste nearing the finishing of a bottle? I hate that. I hate it when I get that last bit. However, with Budweiser, I didnt even want to waste any drop. I want my Budweiser now.

Before I start hallucinating having a beer in hand, I was excited to meet Val and PapaLow at the event. Then, because Mint was the host, I got even more excited that I am to meet my favourite homepal Ang! I havent seen her for nearly half a year? We always got so much to talk about, its like I need her with me all the time.

Sorry, PapaLow. I didnt mean to be late and make you wait!

 Valentine Low, daughter of PapaLow!

Mint on stage with the Budweisers.

Beer was free flow and we were told to "grab some Buds" at the bar. I hope no one got their butts grabbed though. Hur hur, unfunny. I remembered at one point I left the boys to chat with Ang and when I got back, the boys were carrying like at least 7 bottles of beer to the table. Note to self; only bring these few men to event with free flow beer . They cannot help you with the ad but they can entertain you.

Emman, Alex and Oldman - 3 real men because real men drink beer.

Left them for a while, see whats on the table?

Alex, Oldman's brother, was wearing shorts at first. I made him go back and change.

I dont know what happened but it just did.

So as I was saying I left the boys for a while and met Silver. I only knew her since Genting last year, but it felt as though I knew her for ages. So friendly, so pretty and I got a tummy full of love for this woman.

With Muttons

Must throw in more of her face else idk when will be the next time I see her.

Went to find Mint as well. I remember knowing Mint through her blog and she is the nicest ! Where got people send the item you win from her blog to your doorstep one? MINT. I didnt like see her for a few years - thought she forget me already- and at the Domino's event this year, she recognised me first and said Hi. Humble star, this woman. Love her to bits too!

老的, thank you for being my hero of the night - free ride, free entertainment and also for walking me back all the way to my doorstep! I dont remember if I embarrassed myself but if I did, you will live with it. I secretly think its damn awesome to be in my life because of the benefits one can get. Y'all come have free beer yet I am the one who was "working". Okay, after looking at the above picture again, I think I look very overly attached.

Except that it wasnt a guys night out.

****

Okay, to not end this entry abruptly. I shall tell you a story. So the men -all into sports- spotted someone huge in Singapore sports scene. They took a terrible photo with him when I wasnt around. By terrible I meant the photo didnt turn out good. Oldman came to me and asked if I could help them take a photo with him and I said sure. Why would I turn Oldman down anyway right...

Fanboy moment

I dont know/dont remember what they were doing but they take damn long lah to like get into position to take a photo with him. So I was like "Girls will be girls. Come, let us take a photo while waiting for them to get ready." And I did.

Didnt turn out great because I didnt want the men to spot me stealing a shoot.

Still not ready yet.

Finally ready but not satisfied.

till they do their "thing".

That pretty much summed up my entire weekend. Remember to -

You better WORK BITCH!

Everyone, no really, everyone knows how much I love love love Britney Spears. I dont have all of her albums but I do have all of her scents. And when someone asks me what perfume do I use, I proudly say "Its Britney, bitch."

I am so glad that she's back on track and of course, I am proud of her for getting back on track. Seeing your idol fall and rise up again, only reminds me of how human she is. She's like any one of us. At least, she didnt overdose and die coughcorycough.

I almost died

A month back.. yes I know I always do this. Its like the commotion has died out and then, I decide to like blog about it.

So I went to Metric Live in July. Oh what fun! Emily Haines was not only smoking hot but the entire set sounded EXACTLY like the album. Nope, there was NO lip-sync. Just pure goodness in her voice.

Wait there is more!

HER VOICE IS PURE NUTELLA GOODNESS. I cannot believe how awesome my pentax camera can take videos like this.

Help I am alive.

Etta James - Something's gotta hold on me

The voice behind Avicii 's successful chart-topping "Levels" passed away on the 20th January 2011. Just days before that, I was watching American Idols season 11 and that's where I discovered Etta James. Her voice was amazing She was amazing. The music was amazing. I was an immediate fan.

Something's gotta hold on me - Etta James, 1962.

Levels - Avicii, 2011

Etta James albums records soar after her death. 30,000 copies of her albums were sold in the week following her death, compared to just over 6,000 copies the previous week.

Avicii sampled Etta James' "Something gotta hold on me" in 2011 which reached top ten in UK, Austria, Germany.. just to name a few.

I felt terrible to have known such a soulful singer only at her deathbed. Etta James was already battling with sickness since 2008. Sometimes, I wish I was born in an earlier era. Music these days are shit. But Id still like to marry Tim Bergling someday.

9th July

Paid Ad

Hey guys, remember I was talking about Elson Soh a few days back? Well, I just found out that he has a concert coming up on the 9th of July and it’s going to be held at the MAX Pavilion. Like really? I thought only the best of the best get to perform in there. He must command some kind of media control.

So I googled Elson Soh The Final Showcase Concert and I wound up at the Royal International Website. Went to ticketbooth.com to check it out and found out that PAssion cardholders get a 30% discount off tickets! It’s not a bad deal actually come to think of it. And the concert is on a Saturday! I can get my significant other to go for dinner with me and then watch the concert together.

The Royal Artistes seem to be quite a hit too. Tried searching for them on Youtube and found their video at some Charity concert. They don’t sound too bad actually. I mean, everyone can go for that concert!! It branches out to the Malays, the English speaking and the Mandarin speaking too!

I was just flipping through Teenage Magazine and I found an exclusive story of Elson Soh. He is EVERYWHERE!! Everywhere I turn, I will see that guy in a blue jacket with a cool beckoning gesture complete with the words THE FINAL SHOWCASE 2011.

What is it that the English speaking counterparts in our country have against local talent anyway? I’d say we go support this young wannabe and see what he’s made of. =)

E is for

Hey, have you heard
that a new local artiste is in town?! His name is Elson Soh (click on link to his blog!) and honestly I
think that his songs are not too bad for a Singaporean. Apparently he sings in
3 of the nation’s languages, English, Mandarin and Bahasa Melayu. It is
amazing! I doubt any artiste has done that before. He is pretty talented
considering that he knows how to play the piano, the cello and the drums!! I
honestly never really supported local music until I heard his compositions and
found that it was rather easy-listening, making me want to listen to it over
and over again.

I dont know about you but I never like chinese songs or chinese singers (just because I rarely know they exist). However, Elson sound like Jay Chou to me to a certain extent.

True enough, he isn’t
exactly Wang Lee Hom or JJ Lin material but still it seems like he is set to be
the next big thing here in Singapore! One thing about local talent is that it
does not allow newcomers to come in easily and those who have shot to stardom,
like Stefanie Sun, JJ Lin and Tanya Chua seem to have lesser exposure after
bursting out into the local music scene like a firework.

Hmm, one thing about
Elson is that he has this rather cute image which does reach out to a lot of
people. It’s like different phases in life. As he grows older, the images seem
darker.

Can you imagine all
the sponsorships he’s been getting? And what’s with him being an ambassador of
all those brands?! It’s so cool! House of Mini too!! Now I’m hungry. Wonder if
there are discounts if I mention his name; and I heard that they are selling
the CDs at a major discount too. Hehehe.

Maybe these boy talk is all because I am newly single. Weirdly, I never really take a second glance at a chinese dude before.. unless he mixed blood or already my friend since longgg time ago. Im off to put his songs on repeat. You can take a listen to them at his blog. Again, heres the link: http://elsonsoh.blogspot.com.

You to the Tube!

I personally watch alot of youtube videos. In fact more than the norm because i like to watch Disney Channel's Suite Life on Deck, Wizards of Waverly Place, Pairs of Kings, Good Luck Charlie, just to name a few, when the episode is out. Singapore's cable tv is far too slow.

You know how YouTube like to suggest some videos for you to watch? That's when I stumbled upon "Charlieissocoollike". Xiaxue did mention him on her blog too! Charlie is such an adorable young man. I often refer him as "my YouTube boyfriend who never know I exist". He makes me smile and wish his weekly video is longer.

Charlie stole my heart because he is funny.

..Because he speaks from his heart.

..Because he is real.

..Because he is cool.

..Because he sings.

Of course I picked out my favourites for you. I hope you enjoy!

Zoukout 2010

I didnt really enjoy myself this year at Zoukout. It was overcrowded and too many pushings around. Unless you are on a platform, its impossible to dance for more than 5 minutes because someone will asking you to move so that he/she/they can walk pass. The rain was okay. In fact, I love how it did rain. However, I could not take any pictures because of the crowd and rain.

Hence, you might want to enjoy pictures of pre zoukout and post zoukout.
